He spent multiple summers doing fieldwork in Florida to understand the development of Amphioxus, a filter-feeding organism that burrows in the sand around Tampa Bay. Since making the change to the biotech industry he has worked on the development of sequencing instrumentation, enzyme improvement through protein engineering as well as cancer diagnostics. He led the early development of the ArcherDx Personalized Cancer Monitoring assay along with a variety of other DNA and RNA-based tests.
